FAQ
How do I register a Ceres Gate platform account?
1. Visit the website: Visit the CeresGate website (https://gate.aiotxems.io) and select “Create Account”.
2. Fill in the information: Enter your personal information to complete the registration process.
3. Complete registration: After registration, you will be directed to the management control panel, where you can begin managing your SIM card or setting up data integration.
How do I register a LoRa terminal device?
1. Enable Control Tool: Go to the Hestia Control Suite web tool (https://creative5-io.github.io/hestia-web-tool/).
2. Connect Device: Go to the “LoRa Configuration” tab and click “Serial Connect” to connect to the LoRa module’s serial port.
3. Add Device Information: In the “Add New LoRa Device” form, fill in the Device Index (0-15), Device ID, Network Section Key, and Application Section Key (if it’s an OTAA node, you need to enable the option and fill in DevEUI and AppEUI).
4. Complete the Write: Click the green “+ Add Device” button. The system will immediately write the settings to the hardware module and complete the registration.
How do I update the software?
To update the software (firmware) of your Hestia NTN device, you need to use the “Firmware Update” tab in the Hestia Control Suite web tool. This tool uses the Modbus RTU protocol with MDFU to write the new firmware to the device.
Important Note: Once the firmware update begins, it must not be interrupted. Ensure the device remains connected and powered throughout the process; interrupting the update may damage the device and render it unrecoverable.
Please follow these steps to perform the firmware update:
1. Select Serial Port: In the “Step 1” section, click “Select Serial Port” and select the correct COM port for your NTN device from the options that appear in your browser.
2. Select Firmware Image: In the “Step 2” section, click “Select Firmware Image” and then select a firmware file with the .img extension from your computer (other file formats are not supported).
3. Confirm Update Options:
Slave ID (Modbus): Default value is 1. Unless your hardware is specifically configured with a different address, please keep the original setting.
Skip Modbus Phase: If your device is already in bootloader mode, you can check this option to skip the initial communication phase.
4. Start Update: Click the “Start Firmware Update” button to begin the update. The system will perform 11 stages in sequence, including unlocking the password, entering engineering mode, transferring and writing the firmware, verifying the integrity of the image file, and finally restarting.
During the update process, a progress indicator light (showing the completion percentage and a green checkmark icon) will appear on the interface to allow you to track the current status. Once the last stage is completed, the device will automatically restart and apply the new firmware.
Application environment and frequency?
Suitable for transmitting small amounts of data per hour, such as temperature, humidity, and CO2 concentration; also suitable for monitoring remote areas, such as GPS positioning and SOS signals. Each transmission is 256 bytes, and the transmission duration is 2-30 seconds.
In short, it can be understood as a small communicator that can periodically transmit sensor data via satellite from locations without mobile signals.
How do I connect my phone? Do I need a computer?
In simple terms, imagine you have a computer that uses Hestia as a network adapter to transmit text messages via satellite. To connect your phone, you need to connect to your phone through this computer, such as via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Therefore, Hestia cannot be used independently with a phone.
To connect to the computer, simply plug the RS485 to USB cable directly into the computer’s USB port.
What are the product contents?
The package includes a small L-shaped bracket and a waterproof RS485 connector cable. If you need to convert to USB, you will need to purchase an RS485-USB adapter separately.
The software and sample code are available on GitHub: https://github.com/CREATIVE5-io
How much is the monthly rent?
For inquiries, please contact our official email: info@creative5.io
What is the power consumption? Is it power-hungry?
Hestia consumes less than 1W at its peak, can be powered by a power bank, and also supports USB-RS485 power adapter.
How many words can be transmitted using 30kb of satellite communication bandwidth?
Approximately 15,360 Chinese characters. It can send approximately 150 data entries, each 256 bytes.
Can it be connected to an external antenna? Is the image quality HD or 4K?
Because this product uses a built-in antenna, it cannot be used with an external antenna. Please refer to the Specification for specifications of external devices. Currently, there is no image transfer function, therefore there is no information regarding image quality. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Which company's satellites are you using?
Coverage is provided by Inmarsat high-orbit satellites; see this link for coverage details: https://www.skylo.tech/resources/geographical-coverage
